{Event} Ride In The Light

A couple weekends back I was honored to be one of the photographers for "Ride In The Light", a Christian motorcycle rally. It was a lot of fun. A place where two worlds collide in one place glorifying the name of the Lord.
Friday night kicked off the rally, where bikers got to head to Miner Street park to enjoy one of the summer's Concert In the Park concerts. After the concert they headed out of town for a twilight ride.  Saturday morning, more registration & the Poker Run, which toured through the south end of the county this year.

Most of my time on Saturday was spent at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds capturing events that were going on there. There was a wheelchair parade, car show, & vendors. Once the riders returned from the run, they had some bike games. The evening was spent listening to music  by 2 great artists, Truth Be Told Band and Bryan Duncan, dancing & fellowship.

Early Sunday morning the riders took a "SONlight" ride out through the Little Shasta Valley, soaking up some of that beautiful country air. Followed by "Biker Church" in the midway, with more worship music & a great message from Ron Heagy, a quadriplegic inspirational speaker. After worship, there were bike blessings & everyone went on their way, uplifted & ready to face another week.
I am excited to go back again next year. It was truly a blessing to be a part of this great, growing event.

A Little Adventure

Hey!! I'm back..did you miss me?  Did you even know I was away?!?

We spent this past week on a little family adventure. We left Tuesday morning & drove, for about 7 hours, well not all driving time, but total travel time with stops & all. We went to visit my hubs Gramma, whom we hadn't seen since last December when she moved.

It was a great adventure, full of fun, laughs, too much fast food & all the imaginable stress traveling with 2 toddlers (one who is more like a hurricane) & a baby, packed like sardines into a tiny Ford Focus.

We followed & crossed a couple rivers, drove through huge Redwood trees & visited the ocean.
Klamath River, along HWY 96
 Smith River, along HWY 199
(yes it's actually THAT blue & clear & so gorgeous, someday I will photograph it better, this was just on a quick, grab the kids something to snack on stop)
A scenic side route through the Redwoods along HWY 101
A stop in Klamath, to drive through a tree.
 Pacific Ocean at Crescent City
We had absolutely gorgeous weather. Mostly sunny, some light morning fog, slight northern breeze that had a wintry bite, but just perfect otherwise.

We spent a little bit of time playing at parks, walked on the beach looking for shells (we actually found 5 WHOLE sand dollars) & just enjoying our time together. It was a rare treat for us to be able to take off in the middle of the week for several days together.
Miss Anna K -- almost 4
My Little Crazy Grace -- almost 2
Mr Sweet & Handsome, Brody J -- almost 1

We're glad to be home, except for the mountain of laundry that exploded into the laundry room. Thankful for our little adventure & even more thankful that we're back. Top that with the oh so beautiful un-January like weather & I'm a happy, mostly productive momma.

---------------------------------------------

**Speaking of un-January like weather, according to Mr. Weatherman, it's supposed to be sunny & decent for the rest of the week. Seeing so much sunshine the past few days has made me extra cheery, so for this week only, if you book your $75 January portrait special, you'll also receive a $15 print credit.**

New...{My Life}

Beginnings....a new Year...new dreams, ideas & plans...new projects...a new baby.....lots & lots of new.
Happy 1st week in the New Year.

I've been busy getting end of year paperwork & new year paperwork completed, along with starting to plan a birthday party for 2 very special girls, and beginning to get things in order for a new baby to come into our house.
If you are interested in having your portraits made by me prior to May 1st, you need to make your appoinment before March 10th, which is the last day I will be working until May 1st so that I can have my little boy & recover from the surgery.
New Years Eve/Day was pretty uneventful for our family. I woke up on NYE with the worst migrane I've ever had, thankfully it subsided somewhat so that I could take a few photos at my sister & brother-in-laws vow renewal.

We were in bed by 10 & up on NY day by 7:30, to tackle my least favorite mom-job, cleaning house. Lately I've been into getting things more organized, maybe it's getting ready for the baby, maybe it's just for a little sanity....
I have been working on getting lots of new stuff ready for the business, starting with the 1st edition of the Client Connection, a monthly newsletter that will go out (tentativly) the first week of every month. Adding a few new services & products, along with changing the pricing structure around a bit. Hoping that 2010 is the best year for business so far.

Thank you to my wonderful clients from 2009 for helping me grow & learn. You've all been wonderful & I am looking forward to capturing many moments for you in the coming months.
At home, we're still planning meals 2 weeks at a time, but I've been trying to pick a few recipes each time from a new magazine or different cookbook, something we haven't had before or a new twist on old flavors. One of the things I did this week was make a cake (I don't bake on a regular basis, but enjoy it the same).
I chose the White Chocolate Raspberry Torte (Taste of Home Dec/Jan 2010). The cake is yummy, not really heavy & the filling is yummy, really raspberry-ish. But the frosting that tops this thing... is Oh.My.Goodness. YUMMY! Light, fluffy, yummy. I now know what kind of frosting will be topping my girls' birthday cake.

FROSTING:
1 pkg cream cheese, softened
1 cup vanilla chips, melted & cooled
1 carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Beat up the cream cheese until fluffy, beat in the melted chips, fold in the whipped topping.

Fire Watch {Life}

Today, about the same time my hubby walked through the door the local fire alarms went off.
...a flare up...

We went out to photograph the event and came up with a mostly shots of the Helicopter, as my longest lens, wasn't long enough (next on the long shopping list) to get much of the action.
...a test drop, right back into the pond...

...taking off with his load of water...
...the 1 and only drop...

...and the return...
